Local Rules

  1. OUT OF BOUNDS – Rule 27
    • Over any boundary fence or hedge.
    • Over any boundary of the course marked by white posts and beyond the internal white posts on the right hand side of fairways 3 (12), 4 (13) and 8 (17).
    • The Car Park and Driving Range outfield.
  2. FIXED SPRINKLER BOXES
    • All fixed sprinkler boxes are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained.
  3. OBSTRUCTIONS – Rule 24
    • Stones in bunkers may be removed without penalty.
  4. STAKED OR BANDED TREES
    • A ball lying so that a staked or banded tree interferes with the player’s stance or the area of intended swing must be dropped within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole without penalty (Rule 24-2).
  5. WATER HAZARDS – Rule 26
    • All water hazards indicated by Yellow Posts.
    • All lateral water hazards indicated by Red Posts.
  6. GROUND UNDER REPAIR – Rule 25
    • Areas defined by white painted lines.
    • Ground under repair signs.
    • Drainage channels other than water hazards.
    • Tractor ruts.
      Play from G.U.R. is prohibited.
  7. WRONG PUTTING GREEN – a ball landing on:
    • A marked temporary green when the main green is in play, or
    • A main green when the temporary green is in play shall be treated as a “putting green other than that of the hole being played” or a ball landing thereon shall be lifted and dropped without penalty in accordance with Rule 25-3.
  8. A ball stopped or deflected by overhead wires must be replayed without penalty in accordance with Rule 20-5.
  9. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES – The use of distance-measuring devices for the purpose of assessing distance only is permitted, strictly in accordance with rule 14-3.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULES:

  • Match Play – Loss of Hole;
  • Stroke Play – Two Strokes.

In addition to the local rules as published and displayed on the back of the score cards, the following local rules should also be noted.

  1. Obstructions (Rule 24)
    • Internal roads and paths are immoveable obstructions and relief may be taken, without penalty. In addition, on the 4th/13th and 9th/18th holes, the grass verge to the left of the road/path are deemed to be part of the said obstruction. (Rule 24-2b applies).
  2. Dropping Zone (Rule 24)
    • An area has been designated/marked as a DROPPING ZONE and must be used on the 6th hole in the event that a players ball is lying so that the netting and its support poles to the left of the 7th tee, interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing. Without penalty.
    • The protective netting to the right of the first green is not considered appropriate for a dropping zone. Therefore, a ball lying so that the netting and its support poles interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing must be dropped within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole without penalty (Rule 24).
